Short version: we collect what we need to run the platform, we don't sell your data, and you can ask us to delete it anytime.
1. What We Collect
When you use OnYourRoute — whether you're posting a delivery request or listing a route as a driver — we collect the following:
Account & Contact Information
- Name
- Email address
- Phone number (optional, used for sender-driver coordination)
Delivery & Route Information
- Pickup and drop-off locations (towns in the Belleville–Kingston corridor)
- Travel date and timing
- Item description (what's being sent)
- Optional photo of the item
- Size and weight information you provide
Payment Information
Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number, bank account details, or any full payment credentials on our servers. Stripe handles the transaction; we receive a confirmation and a transaction reference.
Usage Data
- Pages visited and timestamps (for analytics)
- IP address (hashed — we can't trace it back to you)
- Browser and device type
- Referral source (how you found us)
2. How We Use It
We use your information to run the platform. Specifically:
- Matching senders with drivers. When someone posts a delivery request and a driver's route overlaps, we show the relevant listing on the board. If both parties choose to connect, we share contact details so they can coordinate.
- Processing transactions. We pass payment information to Stripe so deliveries can be paid and drivers can be paid out.
- Customer support. If something goes wrong with a delivery or payment, we use your information to help resolve it.
- Platform integrity. Detecting spam, fraudulent listings, and misuse.
- Product improvement. Aggregated usage data (not personal data) helps us understand what's working and what isn't.
We don't use your data for advertising. We don't build profiles to sell to third parties. We don't run retargeting campaigns using your personal information.
3. Who We Share It With
We share the minimum necessary, with the people who need it to make your delivery happen.
The Other Party in a Delivery
When a sender and driver choose to connect, we share each party's contact information (name, email, phone if provided) with the other. This is required to coordinate the delivery. You agree to this exchange when you post or accept a listing.
Stripe (Payments)
Stripe receives your payment details and, for drivers, the information needed to process payouts. Stripe is a third-party payment processor operating under its own privacy policy. We do not control what Stripe does with the information you provide directly to them.
Nobody Else
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party for marketing, advertising, or any other purpose. We do not share data with data brokers.
Legal Requirements
We may disclose information if required to do so by law, court order, or government request — or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the safety of users or the public.
4. Data Retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services and comply with legal obligations.
- Active accounts: Data is retained while your account is active and listings are live.
- Completed deliveries: Transaction records are kept for a reasonable period for accounting and dispute resolution purposes.
- Deleted on request: If you ask us to delete your account and data, we'll do so within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g., tax records).
5. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct any inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your personal data
- Withdraw consent at any time (which means you'd need to stop using the platform)
To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@onyourroute.polsia.app. We'll respond within 10 business days.
6. Cookies & Analytics
We use a small number of cookies and tracking tools to understand how people use the site.
What We Use
- First-party analytics: We log page views on our own servers. This includes hashed IP addresses, browser type, and referrer. No identifiable personal data.
- Meta Pixel: We use Meta's advertising pixel to measure traffic sources. This allows Meta to show you OnYourRoute ads if you've visited the site. You can opt out through Meta's privacy settings.
- Local storage: We store a random visitor ID in your browser's local storage to count unique visitors. It contains no personal information and is not shared with third parties.
What We Don't Use
We don't use Google Analytics, third-party advertising networks, or any other tracking services beyond what's listed above.
7. PIPEDA & Ontario Law
OnYourRoute operates in Ontario, Canada. We comply with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), which governs how private-sector organizations collect, use, and disclose personal information in the course of commercial activity.
Under PIPEDA, we are committed to the following principles:
